International Book Fair in Krakow® - a cyclical event dedicated to the publishing and bookselling industry, organized since 1997 in Krakow by Targi w Krakowie Ltd.
The event, as part of a program to promote reading, is open to the general public. Exhibitors include Polish and foreign publishing houses, book warehouses, bookstores, cultural institutions, associations related to the book market in Poland, digital media distributors, printing companies, and paper manufacturers.

The International Book Fair in Krakow® is a major characteristic of the city. They have become an area for the promotion of good books, a place for meetings, exchange of ideas, and discussions. In 2013 Krakow was honored with the prestigious title of UNESCO City of Literature - as one of seven cities in the world and the second non-English-speaking city. That's why Krakow is an ideal place to host an international publishing and reading event. 2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of Agnieszka Osiecka – one of most outstanding Polish poets and song lyricists, whose work has moved and inspired generations of readers and listeners for decades. On this occasion, the motto of the 29th International Book Fair in Kraków® is the quote: “Caution: another human being.”

“If packages containing glass are marked ‘Caution: glass,’ then why shouldn’t the package that contains our heart bear the words: ‘Caution: another human being’?” Agnieszka Osiecka’s words from „Zabawy poufne” resonate today with particular relevance. They remind us how important tenderness, empathy, and mindfulness toward one another are, because people – just like glass – can easily be hurt, and the words and gestures of others stay with us for a long time. In a world full of rush, we increasingly need genuine meetings, conversations, and a sense of community. It is precisely the relationships we build and the stories we experience together that shape us most deeply.

Literature helps us better understand one another, build connections, and look at other people more attentively. All of this is essential to the International Book Fair in Kraków®. Every October, EXPO Kraków becomes a meeting place for authors, publishers, and readers – a space for dialogue, exchange of ideas, and shared emotions. That is why the quote “Caution: another human being” so strongly reflects the idea behind the Fair – because books not only tell stories, but also bring people together.
